John (Banner) Harmood-Banner is Notable.

John was baptised at St Nicholas, Liverpool on 25 October 1847, with his parents named as Harmood Walcot Banner and Margaret.[1]

He was educated at Radley College. He joined the family accountancy firm, becoming a partner in 1870. In 1883 he became Deputy Chairman of the iron and coal firm Pearson and Knowles.

The 1901 census lists John at Neston, Cheshire, age 53, born Liverpool, Lancashire, chartered accountant. Wife: Elizabeth H, 48, born Wigan, Cheshire. Children: Margaret H, 22, born Liverpool, poultry rearer; Dorothy H, 20, born Liverpool; John H, 16, born Burton, Cheshire.[2]

In 1902 he was High Sheriff of Cheshire. From 1905 to 1924 he was MP for Liverpool, Everton. He was a JP and Deputy Lieutenant for Cheshire, and, in 1912, Lord Mayor of Liverpool. He was knighted in 1913 and made a baronet in 1924. In his latter years he was a member of the boards of a number of major companies. He acquired Ingmire Hall near Sedbergh, then in the West Riding of Yorkshire (now in Cumbria).

He passed away in 1927. Probate was granted on John's estate on 11 May 1927, with his death date given as 24 February 1927.[3] His death was registered in Yorkshire, with his age at death as 79.[4]
