Biography

Alfred James Ball was born on 18 August 1861 at Sandy Creek, Victoria, Australia, the son of Jane Ball and John Weeks Ball.^{[citation needed]}

He married Lydia Jane Loveday Wardle on 4 July 1881 in Melbourne, Victoria.^[1] Their children were:^{[citation needed]}

Alfred was killed on 4 January 1916 by lightening whilst sheltering under a tree during at storm, at Government House, St Kilda Road, Melbourne, where he worked as a gardener.^[2] Age at death: 54 (est. DOB 1862).
