Biography

Alan was born in 1945 in Farnworth, Lancashire, England. He was the son of Alan Ball Sr and Violet Duckworth.

On 21 May 1967 at the parish church of St Stephen, Kearsley, Lancashire, he married Lesley Newton.[1] They had 3 children:

He played as a midfielder for Blackpool, Everton, Arsenal and Southampton between 1962 and 1982, and managed clubs including Southampton, Manchester City and Portsmouth. But Alan will forever be remembered as the midfield dynamo (and youngest member) of England's World Cup-winning team of 1966.

He was awarded the MBE in 2000.

His wife passed away in 2004 at Basingstoke Hospital.

He passed away in 2007 in Hook, near Fareham, Hampshire[2] and is buried at Hollybrook Cemetery, Southampton, Hampshire.

Alan Ball was also the manager of Philadelphia Fury, Blackpool, Stoke City and Exeter City and also played for many other teams in addition to those referenced above according to his wikipedia page.
