Margaret Balfour was the only child born to Michael 1st Lord Balfour of Burleigh and Margaret Lundie[1]
Lord Balfour of Burleigh, in the County of Kinross, is a title in the Peerage of Scotland. It was created in 1607 for Sir Michael Balfour. He was succeeded by his daughter Margaret, the second holder of the title. She married Robert Arnot in 1607[1], who assumed the surname of Balfour in lieu of Arnot, and sat as Lord Balfour of Burleigh in the Scottish Parliament in right of his wife. Their son, the third Lord, fought with the Covenanters at the Battle of Drumclog. His grandson, the fifth Lord, was attainted in 1715 for his role in the Jacobite rebellion of that year.
Margaret died at Edinburgh in June 1639.[2]
Margaret and Robert had five children:[2]
