John was born in about 1745, the son of Salathiel Bale and Elizabeth Reymor.

He married Elizabeth Hora on 10th February 1778 at Alwington, Devon, England. ^[1]

He passed away in 1808 and was buried on the 2nd of July at Alwington, Devon, England. The bishop's transcript gives his age at death as 63 years. ^[2]
