FASHIONABLE MARRIAGE.
The marriage of Lord Dormer and Emily Constance Campbell, eldest daughter of Mr. J. Bald, of Monzie Castle, Perthshire, was celebrated at the Church of the Oratory, Brompton, yesterday, in the presence of many relatives and friends. Lord Dormer was attended by his brother, the Hon. Herbert Dormer. There were six bridesmaids – Miss Evelyn Barclay, Miss Dormer, Miss Gertrude Dormer, Miss Isabel Hanbury, and Miss Verena and Miss Ethel Bald, the bride’s two young sisters. Master Bald, who acted as page and carried the bride’s long train, was in full Highland costume. All the bridesmaids wore dresses of cream nun’s veiling, with waistcoats and sashes of pale yellow silk, wreaths of ivy and yellow iris, and tulle veils. Each carried a white fan painted with yellow chrysanthemums, the gift of Lord Dormer, and a basket of yellow flowers and ferns. The bride was conducted by her father to the carpeted space in front of the sanctuary. The bride’s dress consisted of corsage and train of white brocaded velvet, and petticoat of white grossgrain faille, trimmed with Brussels point lace (the gift of her mother), and panels of pearl embroidery. She wore a wreath of orange blossoms and tulle veil, and her ornaments comprised a diamond and ruby heart, the gift of the bridegroom; diamond bracelet, her father’s present; sapphire and diamond brooch, given by her mother; and sprays of Scotch thistles in diamonds, the gift of Mr Van Der Nest. The officiating priest was the Rev. Father Williamson, of the Oratory, assisted by the Rev. A. Delerne, chaplain to Lord Dormer. In the course of the afternoon Lord Dormer and his bride left for Paris, en route for Cairo. Her ladyship’s travelling dress was of dark blue serge, trimmed with astrachan, and bonnet to match.
