James Baker was born in 1869 in New Zealand, son of Jonathan Baker and Ann Earnshaw.
He married Selina Jane Frizzell in 1894. They do mot appear to have had any children.
James died on 10 June 1950 in New Zealand, aged 81. He was buried in Te Henui Cemetery, New Plymouth, New Plymouth District, Taranaki.
