There was confusion with Henry Fredericks Baker's parents. The text identified correctly that his parents were Frederick Baker (United Empire Loyalist) and Elizabeth Davy (also from a UEL family). The previous tree had Henry Fredericks' parents as Johann Frederick Baker (Baker-20560) and Maria Dorethia Dureman (Dureman-1) born in Germany and lived and died in Maryland. They never lived in Canada.
Henry was born in 1789. in Millhaven, Ernestown Township, Lennox & Addington County, Ontario, Canada. He was the son of Frederick Baker and Elizabeth Davy.
He married Patience Skinner on 20 May 1820 in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Canada. Daughter of Timothy Skinner and Patience Slaght. They moved to Ernestown where the raised most of there children. They moved to Caladonia about 1830.
Quotes from Todd Skinner on May 25, 2006 and Russ McGillivray.
Henry Baker was a private in the first battalion of the Addington Militia and served in the war of 1812. As the son of a UEL, he was recommended for 200 Acres by order in council 23 November 1816. He was granted 200 acres on 14 SEPTEMBER 1836, being lotT 6, Concession 7, of Tay Township, Simcoe County. He is possibly present in the Addington Militia return of 05 Dec 1828, age 35, with his brothers George & William.. Henry Baker lived at Sim's Locks, near Caledonia in the Nelles Track. His home was called GLENN HOME OR MILL FIELD. He apparently went first to Caledonia to do sawmill work on the GRAND RIVER (source: letter from A.E. Baker 15 July 1951 in the Baker File, Burleigh papers Queens Archives).
QUOTE:from Mary Nelles, "In 1822, Henry Baker settled at Sim's Locks. He was a lumberman and he built a Mill there"..BUT I question the date 1822 as Joseph appeared to be the first born in Sim's Locks, Seneca Tp, Haldimand Co.in 1830).
CENSUS of 1861 Sim's Locks, Haldimand County, gives his age 60,(CENSUS probably wrong re age) buried September 4, 1872, at the age of 82, in old St. Paul's Cemetery near Railway Station, Caledonia, Ontario. No marker on gravesite.
Cause of Death, old Age.
A record in St. Paul's church, Caledonia, Ont.

Patience, his wife, was also given 200 aces adjoining Henry's, by ticket of location on April 15th, 1828, as an United Empire Loyalist. This was subsequently sold on September 14th, 1836 for 35 pounds. (Henry was blind in left eye from pitchfork injury accidently received during war of 1812-1814, at Niagara, where he was used with other boys to draw feed for the soldiers' horses.) This biography provides some interesting historical context about the family before and after their arrival in Ernestown: [1]
Henry, now a widower, lived with his children in Seneca, Haldimand, Ontario in 1871.[2]
Henry died 01 Sep 1872 in Sims Locks, Caledonia, Seneca Twp., Haldimand County, Ontario, Canada.
