Biography

George Baird was the son of Robert Baird (1810-1898) and Mary McCully (1818-1902), both of Ireland. He had nine siblings; Eliza 1841, Mary 1844, Margaret 1846, Ellinor 1848, Samuel 1851, James 1852, Robert 1858, John 1859 and David 1863.

Residence in 1871 was Reach, York, Ontario, Canada.^[1]

George's first marriage was to Anne Isabella Wallace on 29 November 1882 at Reach, Ontario, Canada.^[3]

His father, Robert Baird, died on 16 May 1898 in Reach.

Residence in 1891 was Reach, York, Ontario, Canada.^[4] George 37 was married and professed the Free Church.

Residence in 1901 was in Ontario South, Ontario, Canada.^[5] George 46 was a married Presbyterian and his wife Annie 29 is listed twice in this census. Her second appearance was in her parents household, age 40 and single. The indexed dates on both census records is 31 Mar 1901 and no original images are available.

His mother, Mary McCully Baird, died on 28 December 1902 in Reach.

Residence in 1911 was in Ontario South Sub-Districts 1-43, Ontario, Canada.^[6] George 56 was a farmer and his wife was Anne 49. Both were Presbyterian.

His first wife, Anne Isabella Wallace Baird, died on 11 August 1914 in Ontario. She was living with her parents in 1901 and listed as single in that census. This may indicate that they had terminated their relationship some time before this? If not, she may have been temporarily caring for her parents and splitting her time with them and her husband.

George's second marriage was in Toronto on 8 January 1918, according to the record of 1918, which also says he was a retired widower of 63 when he married. His new wife's name was Ann "Annie" Baird and she was the daughter of William Baird and Maria Jane Thompson.^[7]

George Baird died on 12 June 1926 in Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada.^[8]
