Biography
George Baildon lived in Arch Hill, Auckland, New Zealand.
George was born in 1868 in Auckland, the son of Isabella and William Baildon.[1]
He married Maggie Kerr in 1893.[2][3] George and Maggie had three children: Margaret, William and John Kerr. [4]
George was a builder and contractor. He was involved in local body politics including the Archhill Road Board, then on the Grey Lynn Borough Council where he was mayor from 1912, until Grey Lynn amalgamated with Auckland in 1914. He was then on the Auckland City Council 1914–1925 and Deputy Mayor 1922–1925. He was also on the Auckland Hospital Board.[5]
He married Anne Levick in 1932.[6][7]
He passed away in 1946[8]. George was buried at Waikumete Cemetery.[9]
