Stock Baigent MBE is an Anzac who served in World War Two.

Biography

Stock Baigent MBE was a Prisoner of War during World War II.

Lestock was born in 1906. He was the son of Augustus Baigent and Eva Evans.

The Nelson College school list shows Stock was a pupil there in 1922. A supplementary note says: Station Hand, Longbush Masterton.

Stock joined the army and served in the regular military service for several years and also during World War II. During the War he was a Regimental Sergeant Major for the Second Divisional New Zealand Engineers as part of the 2NZEF: 1st Echelon. He was taken prisoner of war in Crete.

He had married Mary Veronica Flan in 1934, some years prior to the War.

He was made a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) and also was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM). When he left the Army his rank was Major.

Stock Baigent passed away in 1998 and was buried at Hamilton Park Cemetery on 8 April 1998 (Plot OAK-02-15). His last known address was Oakwood Lodge, Richmond, Nelson. He was 91 years old when he died.
