Sarah was born in New Hampshire in 1806, the daughter of Nathan Bagley and Rhoda Witham.[1] She married James Durno in 1850.[2][3] She died in 1889.[4]
Sarah Bagley was a labor activist and early feminist, working with her coworkers to organize the mill workers of Lowell, Massachusetts. She helped to found the Lowell Female Labor Reform Association (LFLRA) and testified in front of the Massachusetts State Legislature in 1845. She wrote for and edited The Voice of Industry, a labor newspaper founded in 1844.
