Biography

Albert was born in 1841. He was the son of James Bacon and Alice Riggs. [1] [2]

He married on 04 Feb 1873 at Washington, District of Columbia to Kate Stoughton [3] and they appear to have traveled to or resided in England. On their return trip, they sailed from Liverpool aboard the Cunard Liner RMS Scythia and arrived at New York City on 27 Oct 1880. [4]

By 1900, Albert was serving in his final Navy assignment as "Pay Inspector" at the Mare Island Navy Yard in Vallejo, California [5] where he and Kate resided with their daughter: [6]

After completing his Navy career, Albert and Kate retired to Santa Barbara, California, where they spent the remainder of their lives. [9] [10]

They built an American Colonial Revival style home at Santa Barbara. After their deaths in the 1920's, the home appears to have been vacant during the 1930's. Kate's younger sister Teresa Richardson resided there in the 1940's, and Albert and Kate's daughter Alice returned to the home and resided there from the 1950's into the 1970's. [11]

Albert passed away in 1922 [12] and was interred at the Mission Santa Barbara Cemetery. [13]
