Biography

Mary Backus was born in 1898, daughter of Abraham Backus & Jessie E Kimbrough.^[1]

In the 1910 census Mary (age 11) was the daughter of Abraham Beckus in Cedar Rapids Precinct 8, Linn, Iowa, United States.^[2]

Mary (age 17), daughter of Abraham Bernette Backus & Jessie Elizabeth Elamina Kimbro, married John Jelinek on 14 November 1915 in Cedar Rapids, Linn Co., Iowa.^[3][4]

In the 1930 census Mary (age 31) was the wife of Joseph Jelinek at 825 E. 65th St., Inglewood, Los Angeles, California, United States.^[5]

Her father, B A Backus, was in an obituary on 4 October 1934 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, United States. He died (age 62) on 26 September 1934.^[6]

Mary & William Donoghue annulled their marriage due to problems with their former divorces, on 28 March 1940 in Los Angeles, California, United States. ^[7] They informed the judge they plan to remarry as soon as their divorces are finalized. Quite the story.
