Alonzo Louis Babb Jr “Lonnie” 1921 to May 19th, 1944 1st Cousin x3 Removed Babb Side. United States Army Air Force 2nd Lieutenant he enlisted on August 21st, 1941 at Camp Stewart, Georgia SN: 20448084 he was commissioned as a Officer SN: O-696192 and attended Bombardier School at Big Springs, Texas where he married a local girl and upon receiving his wings in November 1943 he was then assigned to a Air Base in Topeka, Kansas as a Bombardier on a B-24 specifically B-24 #41-29474 of the 579th Bomb Squadron of the 392nd Bomb Group 8th Air Force Aircraft Letter M. They deployed overseas to Europe and during their 11th combat mission in a bombing raid near Hessen, Georgia they were attacked by a German Fighter and exploded mid-air, resulting in 90% of the plane being destroyed and all 10 Crew including Lonnie were KIA. He was initially reported as Missing in Action in late June 1944 but eventually his real fate was discovered
