Biography
Frankie Avalon, is an American actor, singer, and former teen idol. He had number one songs on the charts and is known for his role in Beach Party movies and the 1970s musical hit film Grease as "Teen Angel" where he acted and sang the song, "Beauty School Dropout"
Francis Thomas Avallone, better known as Frankie Avalon was born in 1940. He is the son of Nicholas J. Avallone and Mary L. DeLaurentis. He married in 1963.[1]
As a singer, he had 31 charted U.S. Billboard singles from 1958 to late 1962. In 1959, his song "Venus" was Number 1 for five weeks. His song "Why" was the last No. 1 song of the 1950s. As an actor, He became well known for working in films during the "Beach Party" era. Among those films was Beach Blanket Bingo (1965). In the musical film Grease, he appeared as Teen Angel, in which he sings "Beauty School Dropout". [2] He also played the role of Teen Angel in stage productions of Grease through the 1990s and early 2000s.
