Biography

John L Sullivan Austin is a part of US Black heritage.

John L Sullivan was born in 1890.

He served on the Meuse–Argonne offensive during World War I.^[1] John arrived on the ship Harrisburg on 15 February 1919 in New York having departed from Brest, France on 5 February 1919^[2] He was in the US 368 Infantry as a wagoner.

In the 1920 census John (age 28), Laborer, was the married head of household in Salisbury, Rowan, North Carolina.^[3]

In the 1930 census John (age 39), Freight Handler, was the married head of household in Salisbury, Rowan, North Carolina, United States.^[4]

In the 1940 census John (age 49) was the married head of household in Salisbury, Rowan, North Carolina.^[5]

In the 1950 census John (age 68) was the married head of household in Salisbury, Rowan, North Carolina, United States.^[6]

John, son of Stave Austin & Laura Lawhorn, died (age 74) on 3 April 1965 in Salisbury, Rowan, North Carolina, United States.^[7] He is buried at Sailsbury National Cemetery.^[8]
