Son of Samuel & Susannah Hicks Austin and husband of Helen Fuller Austin.

Mr. Job S. Austin a life long resident of Bliss passed away at his home on the Valley road Sunday morning August 31st. He was born November 30, 1836 in the home he lived all his life and passed away that being the Austin homestead.
Job S. Austin, youngest son of the late Samuel and Susan Hicks Austin was united in marriage to Helen A. Fuller of Hume, October 5, 1857, she having passed on in the year of 1903.
In 1861 Mr. Austin enlisted in the Civil War with the 130th NY Dragoons and served his country until 1865.
Regardless of his advanced age Mr. Austin was very active until a few days before he was called home, death being due to old age. Mr. Austin was held in the highest esteem, and was a kind and loving neighbor.
Funeral services were held from his late home Tuesday, September 2, at 1:30 PM, Rev.C.W. Smith officiating. He was laid to rest in Smith Corners cemetery.
Those who survive are one brother, S.L. Austin of Warsaw and several nieces and nephews.
He enlisted August 11, 1862 in Warsaw, NY at 25 years of age for 3 years. Mustered in Aug. 15, 1862 as Private in Co. D 1st. Dragoons, 19th. NY Calvary Regiment. He was in several battles and honorably discharged. Mustered out June 30, 1865 as Private with same company at Clouds Mills, Virginia. He is described as having black eyes, brown hair, fair complexion and stood 5'8" tall.
