Biography

ALEXANDRE AUCOIN is on the Wall of Names at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville, Louisiana Plaque 11 Right, La Ville d'Arcangel arrivee le 3 Decembre 1785. Listed on the plaque with him is Rosalie Teriault, his spouse; and two children Mathurin and Marie Jeanne. ^[1]

Marie Jeanne Aucoin was born on 22 March 1777 in Bretagne, France, daughter of exiled Acadians Alexandre Aucoin and Rosalie Theriot. She was baptized the next day at Saint-Servan, Bretagne (now Ille-et-Vilaine), France. Her sponsors were Flavier Fevrier and Marie Aucoin. ^[2]

The family resided in the vicinity of St. Malo from about 1777 until 12 Aug 1785 when they departed from France aboard "La Ville D'Archangel" (Family #11) destined for New Orleans [LA], where they arrived on 3 Dec 1785. ^[3][4]

Marie Jeanne AUCOIN, age 8, daughter of Alexandre & his wife Rosalie THERIOT, traveling with them and two siblings as the 11th family (of 5 persons) aboard "La Ville d'Archangel."

She married Joseph Marin Bourg, son of Marin Bourg and Marie-Osite Daigre, on 15 January 1795 in Baton Rouge. ^[5]
