Morgan Awbrey was born in Brecknockshire, Wales.
This profile is part of the Awbrey Name Study.

Morgan, born c. 1410, is the son of Gwalter Awbrey of Abercynrig and Gwenllian Morgan. He first married Alice ferch Watkin. [1][2][3]

Alice's (Alis) pedigree is: Alis (c. 1425) ferch Watkin (c. 1400) ap Thomas (c. 1370) ap Watkin (c. 1345) ap Thomas (c. 1315) ap Dafydd Llwyd (c. 1285) ap Hywel (c. 1255) ap Einion Sais (c. 1225) ap Rhys (c. 1195) ap Hywel (c. 1165) ap Trahaearn (c. 1135) ap Gwgan (c. 1105) ap Gwgan Blaidd Gwyrdd (c. 1075) ap Bleddyn (c. 1045) ap Maenyrch (c. 1015). [3]

In Bartrum's chart for Morgan Awbrey, he places a letter over the names of the children he can identify to a mother. [3] The following list of children follow that guideline.

Children of the 1st marriage are: [1][2]

Jenkin Awbrey
Maud
Dafydd

Secondly he married a daughter of Sir Roger Fychan. Bartrum states the 2nd wife was the daughter of Sir Roger Vaughan. Some of the sources Bartrum used interchange the name Vaughan and Fychan. However, the time period for this daughter would make her the daughter of Sir Roger Fychan c. 1375. His descendants later began using the spelling Vaughan. [3] Their child is identified as Margred. [2]

Children to whom a mother is not identified: [2]

John
Thomas of Ystradgynlais
Richard of Abercynrig
Jane

Awbrey Medieval Line: Dr. Myron Evans' book O Hudd Ei Ddoe, Vole 1 discusses findings of "genealogist and historian Sir Arthur Turner-Thomas on the medieval Awbrey line....He advised that the line back to Thomas Awbrey, Cwnstabl Coch (born about 1299) is authentic and reliable and appears in Bartrum, but before that is not reliable." Although deemed unreliable, the book includes a good overview and discussion of available sources and research, including Janet Ariciu's research.[4]

I haven't, but I'm geographically challenged. I rely on others - especially Stuart - for questions about Welsh geography.

Most likely you saw this name matches a rental property that is over 200 years old. It is near Llanfrynach and near Cantref. The name also appears in Montgomeryshire. Indication this is the name of a place rather than a village, like Abercynrig.
