His wife was probably Amice De Mowbray (c1052-1084). She was born at Montbrai, Manche, Basse-Normandie. Their son Nigel also reportedly died at Montbrai in 1129. His son was Roger De Mowbray, who began the Mowbray clan in Yorkshire.
Several problems need addressing: (a) his family name, and that of his father and his two known sons, was written d'Aubigny in French or de Albini in Latin and was never Mowbray; (b) the family came from the village of Saint-Martin-d'Aubigny in Normandy, nowhere near the Pas-de-Calais; (c) his birthplace is unknown, as is his place of death; (d) his wife's name was either Amice or Avice, sources differ; (e) it is highly unlikely that an otherwise unknown Ivan DeSauveur was his son. The problem with that name is that while Hugh De Grantmesnil had 5 daughters, their names were Adeline, Hawise, Rohais, Matilda and Agnes.
