Biography

Martha was born in 1853. She was the daughter of Nathan Atkinson and Frances Slaughter. In 1860, the family was living in Troup County, Georgia.[1] They were still there in 1870. Martha was listed as Mattie F on the census.[2]

By 1920, she was living in the household of her brother, Nathan, in Troup County, Georgia.[3]

She passed away in 1929. Burial was in the Pinewood Cemetery in West Point, Troup County, Georgia.[4]

Martha apparently never married. Her obituary stated she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of West Point, Georgia, and participated in charity work to help the poor and the needy.[4]
