Biography

Edward was a Friend (Quaker)

Edward was the son of William Atkins and Sarah King. He was born at Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire on 31 August 1774.[1][2]

On 10 October 1796 Edward married Mary Banbury (1773–1826,[3] daughter of Erasmus Banbury (deceased) of Aynho, Northamptonshire and Mary) at Adderbury Quaker Meeting House, Oxfordshire.[4][5] They had the following children:

Edward's first wife Mary died on 22 February 1826, with her residence given as Grimsbury Mill, Oxfordshire and her age at death as 53 in the Quaker death and burial record. She was buried at Banbury Quaker burial ground, Oxfordshire on 26 February.[32][33]

On 16 August 1827 Edward married Phebe Cash (daughter of John Cash of Coventry, merchant, and Elizabeth, both deceased) at Coventry Quaker Meeting House, Warwickshire.[34] They had a son:

Edward was a miller and mealman;[3] he is described as a mealman in some of his children's Quaker birth records and the Quaker record of his second marriage.

Edward died at Banbury, Oxfordshire on 16 August 1838. His age at death is given as 64 in The Annual Monitor.[37] His death was registered in the Banbury district of Oxfordshire in the 3rd quarter of 1838.[38]
