Madalene was born at Bromley in 1889.^[1] She was the daughter of Ernest Atkins and Louisa Pepper.

She emigrated to Australia with her parents and siblings on the Oroya in 1890.

She married Frank Isaac Tallis in 1913.^[2]

Madeleine died in 1985 in Brighton East, Victoria, aged 97 years.^[3]
