Biography

Condesa Ermesenda Gatónez was the daughter of conde Gatón, a younger son of Ramiro I, King of Asturias, and his wife Egilona (of unknown family), and was born about 855.[1]

She married circa 870, conde Hermenegildo Gutierrez and had issue.[1]

Ermesenda died after 30 May 912.[1]

LNAB Asturias or Vierzo depends on how reliable the parentage of her father is. He is said to be the son of Ramiro I of Asturias. If correct, Asturias should be the LNAB. If too doubtful, Vierzo or Bierzo should probably be preferred.

Vierzo-2 and Asturias-45 appear to represent the same person because: Same name, same parents and same husbands. According to Cawley (http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/Galicia.htm#HermenegildoGutierrezdiedafter912), Hermenegildo and Ermesinda were parents of both Gutierre and Elvira. (daughter Ermesinda is problematic). Asturias seems a better fit for a LNAB.
