Biography

He is the son of John Jacob Astor IV, who perished in the sinking of the Titanic in April 1912. Astor's wife Madeleine was five months pregnant at the time; she survived the sinking and gave birth to John VI in August.

"Chetwode" Astor's cottage in Newport RI. "Chetwode" was relatively small compared to "Beechwood" the family estate in Newport, which had gone to Vincent instead of John. Demolished.
