Biography

Rosie was born about 1873. She passed away about 1948.

In the 1900 Census Rosie (26 years old) was living with her husband, Rufus (32) who was the head of the household, was living in Precinct 17, DeArmanville, Calhoun, Alabama. Living in the home with them were theirs 2 daughters, Esther (6) and Ola (5), and their son, Sam (2).^[1]

In the 1920 census there was a total of 15 people living in the home with Rufus and Rosie. Rufus (51) was the head of household and his wife Rosa P (46) (she was listed with the correct name in the 1920 census). In the home lived their daughters Esther (23), Maude (14), Edna (10), Nellie (8), and Mary (5). Their sons living in the home were Robert (19), Claude (17), and Howard (11). Also living in the home was Minnie (17, maiden surname unknown) (Robert's wife) and their daughter Ola's (25) family. Ola's family included her husband, Howard Wagnon (26), and their daughters, Eunice (4) and Bernice (1 and 1/2). The final person listed in the home was a hired man, Tom C Crumpton (27).^[2]

By the 1930 census the number of people in Rufus and Rosie's home had decreased dramatically. Rufus (60) was again head of the household with his wife Rosie (57). Howard (23) was the only son remaining in the home along with his two sisters, Nellie (18) and Mary (16). Rufus’ older brother, Orlander (66), was also living in the home at this time. ^[3]
