Harold George Aston was born on 13th March 1923 in Mascot, New South Wales, Australia. He was the younger son of locally-born Harold Aston, a barber, and Annie McKeown. [1]
On 19th September 1942 Harold transferred from the Australian Military Force (Militia) to the Second Australian Imperial Force. His final posting was to the 71st Anti Aircraft S/L Battery with the rank of Corporal. [2]
Harold was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the Queen's Birthday Honours 1976 'in recognition of services to industry'. [3] In the New Years Honours 1983 he was created Knight Bachelor 'in recognition of services to industry'. [4] Harold's older brother, Bill, was knighted in 1970.
He passed away about 1995.
