Margaret (Astley) Harding MBE migrated from England to New Zealand.
Margaret was christened on the 21st of October 1870 in the parish of St. Laurence, Chorley, Lancashire, her parents recorded as England Elijah Astley and Cicely Whittle.
Margaret emigrated with her father Elijah Astley and family in 1879-1880 on the ship Western Monarch from Gravesend to Wellington.
Margaret grew up in Auckland -

- Elija & John Edward Astley tanners of Avondale, Auckland [1]
- Elijah Astley emigrated to N.Z. in 1880 and became manager of the leather dressing department of the tannery of Messrs B. Gittos and Sons, and held the position till 1888.
