Biography

Sarah (Ashley) Hammock has Appalachian roots, in Virginia (now West Virginia).

Sarah Ashley was born in 1800 in Virginia, United States, daughter of John Wiley Ashley (1775–~1870) and Mary Alford (~1779–~1853).

Sarah married William Hammock (born in 1796 in Virginia; son of Martin Hammack and Susan (Ellison) Hammack). Their children were:

In 1850, Sarah (49) was in the household of William Hammock in Kanawha, Virginia. [1]

In 1860, Sallie (59) Hammack. [2]

In 1870, Sarah (69) A Hammack was in the household of Wm Hammack. [3]

In 1880, Sarah (79) Hammack was in the household of Peter Hammack in Smithfield Twp, Roane, West Virginia. [4]

Sarah died in 1886 in Roane, aged 85.[5] [6]
