William ("Bill") Vernon Ashley II was the son of Daniel W. Ashley and Lillian Keith Ashley.[1][2][3] He was born on August 23, 1923 in South Weymouth, Massachusetts.[1][4]

Bill married Julianna ("Julie") McClinton in December 1950. Bill and Julie had the following children:
Catharine Rule Ashley, b. December 18, 1952 in Stamford, Connecticut[citation needed]
Chase Whitcher Ashley, b. November 16, 1956 in Stamford, Connecticut[citation needed]
Bill and Julie were divorced on May 9, 1969.[5][6] Bill had requested the divorce;[citation needed] however, the divorce was granted to Julie on the basis of cruelty,[5] since that was one of the few reasons for which divorces were allowed at the time in Connecticut.[citation needed]

Bill married Diane DeVries on _______ in _________. Bill and Diane had the following child:
Matthew David DeVries Ashley, b. January 5, 1986 in New York City[citation needed]
Death; Burial
Bill died in Pinecrest[citation needed] Miami-Dade, Florida on August 28, 2009.[7] He was cremated and his ashes were buried at Milton, Chittenden County, Vermont, USA near the gravestones of his parents and other Ashley ancestors.[citation needed]
