Josiah was born in 1881. He was the son of Josiah Angove and Elizabeth Jenkin. He passed away in 1959.
Josiah moved from Torrington, NSW to Bundaberg, Queensland after his mother died. He enlisted in the AIF at Bundaberg on 12 Apr 1915 and did his basic training at Enoggera, Brisbane.
He is listed in the AIF Nominal Roll. 7th Inf. Brigade, 26th Inf. Battn. 'B' Company. page 13: Angrove, Josiah, Private, age 33, trade Teamster, single, address Torington via Deepwater, NSW. Next of kin Mrs. Trewhella, sister, Torington via Deepwater, NSW, Methodist. Date of joining 12 Apr 1915. Embarked Brisbane, Queensland on HMVT A11 "Ascaniu" 24 May 1915.
Josiah was in Gallipoli in Oct 1915 (he is classified as an original ANZAC because of his service in Gallipoli). He was wounded in action in France in August 1916 with a severe gunshot wound to the chest and invalided to England. He went back to France on the "Golden Eagle" in December 1916 and was transferred to the 2nd Div. Traffic Control. He was again wounded in action in Belgium in Oct 1917 with a gunshot wound to his right shoulder.
He was promoted to Lance Corporal on 13 Sep 1918 and returned to Australia on the "Runic", arriving in Australia on 10 June 1919.
