James Angove was born in Cornwall, England.

James was born in 1832. He was baptised on 5 February 1832 at St Cleer, Cornwall, England. Son of Samuel Angove and Ann.^[1]

Englishman James Angove (34) arrived in Hobsons Bay, Australia on 19 June 1869 from Dunedin on board the ship Tararua. ^[2]

James married Elizabeth Ann Monro in 1875 in Victoria.^[3] Their children were:

• William John Angove (1876?–1949)^[4]

• Arnold Leslie Angove (1891–1911)^{[citation needed]}
