William Howard Angel was born on 22 October 1913 at home. Unless some bible pops out of nowhere where someone wrote his birth into it, I have no proof of this apart from celebrating his birthday on this day for roughly 40 years. You might think by now a registry office might have this information but I have not found that, either. You will just need to trust me on this one. I won't say 100% that he was born in 1913... I have seen documents that have his birth year as 1915. One, as a matter of fact, is my birth certificate. My parents were 14 years apart so they lied about their ages a lot. My mother added years on herself whilst my father shaved them off from his age. I only wish sometimes they could have lied on my own birth year...and made it further into the future so I could be younger now. I know, it doesn't work that way. ^[1]

William married my mother, Nancy, on 11 Dec 1947. I didn't come along for eight year after.^[2]

My father was never a famous person, although well-respected and loved by all his family and neighbours, however, he was related to a lot of famous folk. He was a descendant of MacGillebride of Argyll, a cousin of the actor Max Von Sydow, a cousin of Scottish author/philosopher David Hume, a cousin of Sir Francis Drake, and a cousin of King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands [private profile]. He is also the 7th great-grandson of Thomas Macy through his mother [my grandmother], Martha Alma Macy-Angell. If you knew him you would never know he was related to so many fascinating people because his demeanour was so quietly unassuming and kind.

My father fought in WWII ^[3] and he was honourably discharge in 1946 ^[4]

Apart from perjuring himself often, William was a good husband and father. He worked for General Electric for over 25 years until company wide redundancies put him out of work. He was not long for looking for new employment as he was hired by JP Stevens Company in Andover, Mass in 1967. Best adventure ever for me. We lived in New Hampshire for nearly three years and I was broken hearted to leave.

My beloved father passed away on 20 January 2000. ^[5]
