St Hilary, 1815 |
Henry and Grace Andrewartha and their daughter Mary Ann emigrated to Canada in 1845, and in the mid to late 1850s editions of ‘Railton’s Trade Directories for City of London in the Province of Ontario’ entries identified Henry Andrewartha as a carpenter. Henry and Grace Andrewartha temporarily returned to Cornwall in 1861 with their surviving children and their youngest four children who were born in Canada were baptised at Gwinear on 27 February 1861. At the time of the 1861 British census Henry, Grace and their family were with Grace’s parents at Lanyon Vean in Gwinear.
Grace Andrewartha, nee Jenkyn, died at Aldborough in 1884 and nothing more is currently known of Henry and Grace’s family and descendants. - by John Smith
