This person seems to be given in the 1860 US Census and 1865 Massachusetts state census and other census' and records as at one time Fred H., or at another time as the opposite- Henry F. as he's given in his death certificate.

CAUTION: There was a Fred H. Amsden and a Fred E. Amsden living in Worcester and Franklin counties in Massachusetts at the same time. NOTE That this profile is for the Fred H. Amsden who sometimes when as Henry F. Amsden.

BIRTH:

A record of the birth of this Fred Henry Amsden who, it says, was born June 8, 1857 in Athol, Worcester, Massachusetts. Gives the names of his parents, incorrectly as "Warren" H., a door manufacturer, born in Dana, Massachusetts and C. M. Amsden, born in Wendell, Massachusetts.[1]

MARRIAGE:

1922 Death Certificate says his spouse was Madeline E. "Bowers" (last name uncertain).

A record of the marriage of this person given as Fred H. Amsden, to Madeline M. Bowen in Shelburne, Franklin, Massachusetts, June 11, 1885. Of this Fred, this record also tells us he was 28yrs old at the time and that his parents were Washington H. Amsden and Ann "Cloye" (sic), (his mother was Chloe Ann Gates).[2]

The 1860 US Census of Athol, Worcester, Massachusetts finds this person given as Fred H. at the age of 2yrs old and born in Massachusetts. He is living there in Athol, with his 35yr old father, Washington H. Amsden, his 34yr old mother, Chloe A. and his two brothers; 7yr old Ortho F. and 6-month old, Wm (William?) H. A 22yr old "domestic" named Hattie Pierce is also living in the household.[3]

The 1865 Massachusetts state census of Athol, Worcester, Massachusetts finds this Fred H. at the age of 7yrs old and given as born in Massachusetts. He is living there in Athol, with his 40yr old father, Washington H. Amsden, his 39yr old mother, Chloe A. and his three brothers; 12yr old Otho F., 5yr old Wm (William?) H. and 11-month old Festus G.[4]

Given as Henry, this person is found in the 1880 US Census of Athol, Worcester, Massachusetts and given as 22yrs old, a "dry goods merchant," born in Massachusetts. He is living there in Athol, with his 55yr old father given as Wash. H. Amsden, his 54yr old mother, Chloe A., three of his younger siblings; 20yr old Willie, 15yr old Festus G. and 10yr old Anna M. and a 31yr old "servant" named Leona Meachum.[5]

Given as Fred H Amsden, this person is found in the 1900 US Census of Shelburne Falls at the age of 42yrs old and given as a "merchant - dry goods," born in Massachusetts in June of 1857 and married for 15yrs. He is living there in Shelburne Falls in a home he owns, with his 36yr old wife, Madeline B. and their three children; 14yr old Robert B.,11yr old Ruth and 9yr old Howard L.[6]

DEATH:

A state of Massachusetts Death Certificate for the Death of this Henry F. Amsden who died August 1, 1922 in Montague, Franklin, Massachusetts. Of this Henry, this record also tells us he was born June 8, 1857 in Athol, Worcester, Massachusetts; that his spouse was Madeline E. "Bowers," (uncertain on last name), and that his parents were Washington Amsden, born in Dana, Massachusetts and Chloe Gates, born in Wendell, Massachusetts. The record says he died of acute cholloctitis.[9]
