James Amonett is the descendant of a Huguenot emigrant.

James Harvey Amonett was born in Tennessee. He was the son of Jacob Amonett and Susannah (Winfrey) Amonett.

James married Cynthia Dedmon about 1837, most likely in Tennessee.

The remainder divided equally between my wife Cynthia and my heirs. My father Jacob Armonett my dwelling to live in for the rest of his natural life and then returned to my heirs as stated above I appoint Jonathon Dedmon Esquire my Executor

Nov 1st 1865 Whereas John DEADMON has been the regular and legal guardian of Elizabeth Jane AMONETT who had intermarried with HC HARDCASTLE and died on the 11 day of May 1865 leaving AJ AMONTT and PARKER AMONETT her half brothers and the said John DEADMON as Guardian wishes to pay over to those written the effects in his hands. Therefore we HC HARDCASTLE AJ AMONETT & Parker AMONETT hereby acknowledge that we have received of the said John DEADMON Guardian etc eight hundred & three dollars and thirty five cents in full of our interest in said Guardians hands AJ AMONETT Parker AMONETT HC AMONETT (5cts stamped) Witness E.W.TURNER clerk at office this 1st day of November 1865 EW TURNER clk

According to the above document, Parker Amonett and AJ Amonett are half brothers to Elizabeth Jane Amonet, implying that Cinthia Dedman Amonett is not the mother of Parker or Andrew Jackson Amonett.
