Floyd Elroy Ames was born at Norway, Maine, on 28 Jan 1915, the son of Harold F. Ames and Edith P. (Flood) Ames.^[1]

Marriages

1. Floyd Ames and Rose Merrill, both of Livermore, Maine, married on 25 Aug 1934.^[2] The marriage ended in divorce; Rose remarried in 1946,^[3] and Floyd remarried in 1951.
2. Floyd Elroy Ames, 36, stationary engineer, divorced, and widow Gertrude Verna (Campbell) Phillips, 38, bookkeeper, widow, both of Portland, Maine, married at Meredith, New Hampshire, on 9 Jun 1951. It was the groom's second marriage and the bride's third.^[4]

Death

Floyd Elroy Ames died in Maine on 16 Sep 2000, with his last known residence recorded as Stoneham, Maine.^[5] His grave marker at the Lovell Cemetery #4 in Lovell, Maine, is inscribed with the dates 1915-2000.^[6]

Research Note

The FindAGrave memorial for Floyd Elroy Ames shows two wives in addition to those listed above: Ruth J. Marshall (1917-1986), married in 1956; and Shirley W. (Horton) Nickerson (1917-2006), married in 1987. He shares a grave marker with Ruth. The memorial says, without citation to a source, "He was a mechanical engineer at American Can Company, also past president of Lake Kezar Country Club, and a member of the Masons, Scottish Rite and Shrine."^[6]
