Ancestry.com. Mathias Ambrose married Maria Elisabeth Willheit 1713 in Germany; Maria died in 1732 shortly after arriving in America[1]. Both born in Germany. Source number: 8920.014; Source type: Family group sheet, FGSE, listed as parents; Number of Pages: 1

(This May be Mathias Sr.) Mathias Ambrose, son of Pierre and Aimee Ann (Polkinhorne) (Ambrose) (DeAmbrose) Ambrose was born about February 1695 in Germany.

Listed as "Mattheis Ambrose", he arrived at Philadelphia on October 11, 1732 aboard the ship Pleasant from Rotterdam by way of the English customs port of Deal. Ambrose settled first in the Conestoga area of Lancaster County. He was 37 years of age.

Mathias married Maria Catherine Spohn in 1733 at Thurmont, Frederick Co., Maryland, where a record in the Muddy Creek Church book of baptisms has records of four sons born between 1734 and 1741. Maria previously immigrated to Maryland in 1714.

Maryland, Church Records, 1668-1995, database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q298-S3DY : 16 March 2018), Mateas Ambrose in entry for Maria Barbara Ambrose, 13 Jun 1743; citing Christening, , Frederick, Maryland, United States, various libraries, churches, historical and national societies, private and public records; FHL microfilm 20,365.

From the baptism sponsors - Mattheis and Anna Barbara Rossel for son Mattheis in 1739, Johann Friederich Verdries for son Johann Friederich in 1741 and from other facts.

It is clear that Ambrose had probably moved on to the Monocacy area (Frederick County, Maryland) , even though Stover's records did not note it, sometime in 1737 or 1738.

He would have been nearly 48 when on June 13, 1743 Pastor Candler baptised his daughter Maria Barbara Ambrose.

Jacob Ambrose and his wife Maria Barbara were this child's Luthern Sponsors. Coincidentally Johannes Weller, who arrived in Philadelphia three months later, was shortly thereafter to marry Mattheis Ambrose's older daughter, Catharine Ambrose.[2]

Mathias wrote his will on 19 October 1782; it was probated on 16 October 1784. The will names daughter Catherine Weller and son-in-law John Weller; Mathias states that he leaves nothing to his other children (unnamed) because he has already given them their full shares.[3]

Ambrose-1978 and Ambrose-214 appear to represent the same person because: The son Johann Phillip is the son of Mathias Ambrose and Maria Catherine Spohn and I have his baptism in sources. All of your sources and dated are fine with me.
