DESPONDENCY CAUSES SUICIDE.

A verdict of suicide was given Tuesday by a coroner's jury in Louisville in regard to the death of Mrs. Jo Pike, 48 years old, widow of John Pike, which occurred at a hospital in that city Monday evening. She was taken to the hospital last Tuesday suffering from poisoning. Relatives said she had been despondent since the death of her husband and had suffered a nervous breakdown. Mrs. Pike was a native of Loretto, this county. Before her marriage, she was Miss Mary Jo Alvey, daughter of T.J. Alvey, deceased. She and Mr. Pike made their home at Loretto until his death about five years ago. She had since made her home in Louisville. Four children, two sons, and two daughters survive. They are T.J. and Benjamin Pike and Misses Stella and Kathleen Pike, all of Louisville. She is also survived by three sisters, Miss Jennie Alvey, Miss Maricia Alvey, and Mrs. Anna Dailey, all of Loretto, and by one brother, Jailer W.E. Alvey of this city. The remains were brought to Chicago for burial Wednesday after funeral services in Louisville. Buried 7-25-1928 in St. Francis Cemetery, Chicago (now known as St. Francis), Ky.
