Biography

Volga German
Elizabeth Alt was a Volga German.
Elizabeth Alt has German Roots.

Elisabeth Alt was born in 1840 in Norka, Russia, to parents Johannes Alt and Anna Maria Repp. She is not found in the 1857 Norka census. In 1857, she would have been 17 years old and could have been married already. She was probably married and living in another household.

She was a direct descendant of Heinrich Alt and his wife Gertrude Vogel, two of the first settlers of the Village of Norka. [1] [2] He was a originally a farmer from Schwarzenfels, Hessen. [3]

According to the Kulberg Reports, Heinrich and Gertrude Alt immigrated to Russia on 09 August 1766, arriving in St. Petersburg, Russia, on the Russian Galliot Strel 'na under the command of Lt. Sornev. [4]

When the family first immigrated from Germany to Russia in 1766, they had no children, but by 1767 they had a 3-month-old daughter named Magdalena. [5] In 1775, they had two more children, sons Nikolaus, born 1769, and Johann Just, born 1772. [6]

By 1798, daughter Magdalena was no longer living with the family and was probably married and living with her husband's family; Johann Just was also missing from the census and may have passed away. [7] Son Nikolaus is there with his wife and two, one of whom was Anna Catharina's grandfather, Johann Heinrich Alt, born in 1810. See Johann Heinrich, 3 months old in the 1811 census. [8]

I am waiting to receive a copy of the 1857 Norka census to confirm her birth and death year. It will be the only source. This profile was originally created by someone else who had access to family records but did not provide any details when they added Johann Adam Alt to WikiTree.
