Biography

John Allott was born in about 1790 in Birstall, Yorkshire, England.

John Allott, son of James, was christened on 10 Jan 1790 in Birstall.^[1][2]

John Allott (age 30, of Leeds) and Hannah Hall (age 21, of Leeds) were married on 17 Aug 1825 at St Peter's in Leeds.^[3][4][5]

John and Hannah had five children:

1. Elizabeth Allott (1826-1917)
2. William Green Allott (1828-1904)
3. Thomas Hall Allott (1829-1830)
4. John Thomas Allott (1831-1912)
5. Sarah Ann (Allott) Hardy (1833-1868)

In 1851 John Allott (age 61, Retired Silversmith) lived at Wilberforce Place in Scarborough, Yorkshire with his wife Hannah (50) and two daughters: Elizabeth (24) and Sarah Ann (18), as well as servant Ann Stork (19, House Servant).^[6]

In 1861 John Allott (age 72, Retired Silversmith) lived at Castle Road in Scarborough with his wife Hannah (60), daughter Elizth (34), and servant Ann Maw (19).^[7]

John Allott passed away on 11 Jun 1861, aged 72 years. His death was registered in Scarborough in the second quarter of the year.^[8]

"1 March [1862]. The Will of John Allott late of Scarborough in the County of York Gentleman deceased who died 11 June 1861 at Scarborough aforesaid was proved at York by the oaths of Hannah Allott of Scarborough aforesaid Widow the Relict, John Thomas Allott of Liverpool in the County of Lancaster Book-keeper the Son and George Walker Gee of Scarborough aforesaid General Outfitter the Executors. Effects under £800. Resworn at the Stamp Office September 1862 Under £1,500. Resworn April 1876 under £4000."^[9]

He is buried at Dean Road and Manor Road Cemetery in Scarborough: "In affectionate remembrance of JOHN ALLOTT, of Scarborough, late of Bradford, who died June 11th 1861, in the 72nd year of his age. Also of HANNAH, relict of the above, who died November, 24th 1875, in the 75th year of her age."^[10]
