  5. Marriage William Crawford and Patricia Allis on proquest
The Evansville Press, Evansville, Indiana, Tuesday, August 28, 1962 p 6 col 5-6
Patricia Allis, Newsman Exchamge Wedding Vows
William Bruce Crawford and his bride of Saturday (25 Aug 1962), the former Miss Patricia Ruth Allis, will live in Rogers Park, a Chicago suburb, after a short wedding trip. Mr. Crawford, a June graduate of DePauw University, now is on The Chicago Tribune news staff. Mrs. Crawford attended DePauw two years and will continue her studies at Northwestern University.

The Rev. Buell Dalton officiated with the double ring service at 7:30 p.m., in Old North Methodist Church, where white floral arrangements were used and huckleberry and white mums tied with white satin were entwined between tapers in brass candelabra. Miss Emma Dreisch, organist, played sacred music, using Wetzler's "Processional on Westminster Abbey."

The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Byron Allis Jr., 420 E. Buena Vista, was given in marriage by her father. The bridegroom is the son of the John A. Crawfords of Blue Island, Ill.

With her gown of satin faced silk organza, the bride wore a fingertip illusion veil and carried Amazon lilies and stephanotis. The sculptured bodice, with portrait neckline and long, pointed sleeves, was trimmed with Alencon lace medallions, pearl embroidered. Medallion appliques were on the controlled front panel and large back bow of the full skirt which ended in a chapel train. A wreath of valley lilies, sorority flower of the bride, an Alpha Phi, and perlized orange blossoms held her veil.

With their floor-length gowns of white organza, styled with back drape accented by white cabbage roses, and brief trains, her attendants wore French blue satin bow headpieces with circular veils. Miss Carolyn Ensor of Cleveland was maid of honor, with Miss Anne Bauer of Evansville, Miss Patricia Conn of Cayahoga Falls O., Miss Julia Caldwell of Rushville, and Miss Nancy Andrews of Glenview, Ill., bridesmaids. They carried white roses, the the maid of honor's with white satin streamers, the bridesmaids with blue. Miss Enseor, Miss Caldwell and Miss Andrews are sorority sisters of the bride, Connie Hackett of Blue Island, flower girl and the bridegroom's niece, wore white organza with French blue headpiece and scattered white rose petals from a white basket.

Jere Calmes of Wheaton, Ill., was best man with the bride's brother Gordon Allis III, Joachim Guenther of Wuppertal, Germany, Bud Walters of Henderson and Jack Barry, Apple Valley, Calif., groomsmen. Mr. Calmes and Mr. Walters are Delta Chi Fraternity brothers of Mr. Crawford.

Mothers of the couple wore blue, Mrs. Allis in French blue lace and Mrs. Crawford, turquoise silk crepe with embroidered iridescent beads covered with chiffon. Their flowers were white Amazon lilies.

At the reception in the McCurdy Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Allis III welcomed guests in the Sky Room and Mrs. Michael McGregor registered guests at the Rose Room entrance. Assisting in serving were Miss Susan Meyers, the bride's cousin, with Misses Joan Bauman, Gwen Taylor, Jeannette Skinner and Merry Prusz.

White flowers surrounded the five-tiered cake on a silver plateau on a round table covered with Italian cutwork cloth. Silver archways supporting the cake held cupids, roses and valley lilies. White floral arrangements and silver candelabra were on the buffet table which was flounced in white eyelet organdy over French blue.

Out-of-town guests included: Mrs. Rae Crawford, Benton, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. James Hackett, Blue Island; the Clarence Ekstroms, South Holland, Ill.; Donald Schnake, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hancock, LaPorte Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Crowl, Rolling Prairie, Ind.; the Edwin Grunsts, South Haven, Mich.; the Evverett Copes, Silver Spring, Md., formerly of Evansville; Mr. and Mrs. P.
