He was also one of the first ministers to develop a large radio and television following. The Reverend Asa Alonso "A.A." Allen was also the author of many books on religion.

A. A. Allen was born Asa A. Allen at Sulphur Rock, Arkansas. His early life was lived in an often unpleasant environment. Having been born to a white and a Native American parent, his family was very poor, and his father was an alcoholic. At the age of 23, Allen became a Christian at the Onward Methodist Church in Miller, Missouri.

In 1955, Allen purchased a large tent and he was one of the major healing evangelists on the revival circuit. Allen's revival meetings were similar to the other leading evangelists of the time (such as Jack Coe, Oral Roberts, and William Branham).

Allen continued on the revival circuit, and in 1958, he purchased a tent that could seat over 22,000. He became one of the first evangelists to call poverty a spirit and believed in God's ability to perform miracles financially.

He became one of the first to develop a national television ministry. His television programs frequently included excerpts from his "healing line" ministry. At his peak, he appeared on fifty-eight radio stations daily as well as forty-three TV stations. By the late 1960s, music formed an increasingly dominant part of his programs, with that music often being performed by African-American singer and choir leader Gene Martin. Allen's revivals were some of the first to become integrated during the 1950s.

At the time of his death, his Arizona "Miracle Valley" headquarters was 2,400 acres with its own airfield. At that time, A. A. Allen Revivals, Inc. was publishing over 60 million pieces of literature a year. The circulation of Miracle Magazine, published monthly by the Allen ministry, was 450,000 at the time of his death. He was, for a time, associated with the "Voice of Healing" movement founded by Gordon Lindsay. Allen was buried at his ministry headquarters in Miracle Valley, Arizona.

Around 1936, Holly, Colorado became Allen's first pastorate. He was officially ordained a minister of the Assembly of God. He prayed and fasted and God met him.

In 1947 he became pastor at Corpus Christi, Texas - he wanted to settle down with his wife and four children. The church did very well and Allen asked for a radio ministry- it was turned down.

In 1949 he went to an Oral Robert's tent healing revival. He knew that was what God had called him to do. 1950 left his pastorate and began having evangelistic meetings. People were being healed, as he preached, where they sat.

In 1951 he bought first tent. 1953 on the radio in USA and beyond. 1955 stopped for drunk driving. There was controversy his entire life about how much he drank.

A.A. Allen continued as an independent minister. He started his own * Miracle Magazine* by the end of 1956 there were 340,000 subscribers. Started the Miracle Revival Fellowship aimed at ordaining ministers and supporting missions.
