Eliza Mary Allen (married name Beardsley) was born before the end of December 1860 in Westleton, Suffolk, England, the daughter of Mary Ann (Napthine) Allen and John Allen.^{[citation needed]} Her birth was registered in Blything.

In 1861 and 1871, she was living with her family in Westleton.^[1][2]

She married Amos Beardsley in 1881 in Victoria, Australia.^[3]
