Ronald was born 18 November 1917 in Oklahoma. He was the son of Ronald Allen and Mida Spradling.

He married Jewell Virginia Hayner

Ronald was the Navigator of the B-24 Liberator bomber, Lynn Bari II - #42-40172-C, participating in Operation Tidal Wave the low-level attack on the Romanian oil refineries at Ploesti on 1 August 1943. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for the mission.

Ronald was the Navigator on the B-24 Liberator 'Star Spangled Hell' (42-72857) which Failed to Return (FTR) on a mission to Weiner Neustadt when it was mauled by fighters, The Air Craft exploded 10 miles north of target. 1-Oct-43. He became a Prisoner of War (POW) in Stalag 7A at Moosburg Bavaria^[1][2]

He passed away 17 June 1988.^[3]
