Biography

Reuben Ellis Allen was born on February 7, 1872 in Chase, Kansas and is the son of Francis Marion Allen (1848-1911) and Rachel (Talkington) Allen (1848-1934). He grew up in McClellan, West Virginia[1] along with fourteen siblings; Homer P Allen (1868-1953), Sarah Elizabeth (Allen) Boyce (1869-1947), Mary J Allen (1870-1879), John Thomas Allen (1873-1929), Frank Allen (1878-1904), Lloyd E Allen (1880-1967), Floyd Ellsworth Allen (1880-1967), Stoey Curtis Allen (1882-1976), Francis Guy Allen (1884-1969), Icy Allen (1885-), Isaac Oscar Allen (1887-1900), Clee Allen (1888-1974), James B Allen (1891-1922) and Claud Ray Allen (1893-1984).

Reuben married Cora Alice Ford March 17, 1895[2] and they made their home in McElroy, West Virginia,[3] Clinton, Washington,[4] West Moscow, Idaho[5][6][7] and Spokane, Washington until his death September 20, 1949.[8][9] He supported his family by growing wheat on the family farm. Together they raised eleven children; Madge Lillie Allen,[10] Ethel May Allen, Albert Oral Allen,[11][12] Pastel Roy Allen,[13] James Francis Allen,[14][15][16][17] Hazel Faye Allen,[18][19][20] Aumbra Opal Allen,[21] Derril Russell Allen,[22] Ada Virgil Allen,[23] Edna Allen and Mary Allen. Reuben is buried in Moscow Cemetery, Moscow, Idaho.[24][25]
