Biography

Anna was a member of the 1854 first graduating class of Rockford Seminary
Anna was a missionary to India

Anna Chloe Allen, daughter of Ira Allen and Zeriah Tennant was born on 4 June 1823 in New York.[1][2]

She attended Rockford Female Seminary and was in the first graduating class of in 1854. [3]

She married Francis Arthur Douglass, son of William Stewart Douglass and Jane Grant (Arthur) Douglass on the day of her commencement. [2] on 13 July 1854 in Winnebago County, Illinois.[4]

They sailed from Boston for India on October 25 that same year. They spent eleven years in India doing missionary work.[5]

She and Francis appeared on the census of 3 Aug. 1870 at Piqua Ward 4, Miami, Ohio.[6] She and Francis appeared on the census of 9 June 1880 at Brooklyn, Kings, New York.[7] She and Francis appeared on the census of 11 June 1900 in the home of their son at Brooklyn Ward 23, Kings, New York.[8]

Anna died on 3 Nov. 1907 at Brooklyn, Kings County (Brooklyn), New York[1] and was buried at Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, Kings County (Brooklyn), New York. Her memorial has links to those of family members.[2]
