Rejected match: Allen-4207

In your notes, it lists a second wife that matches the wife in that record. The parents match up with what your notes say too. Can you look at it again? Seems like a match to me...

Allen-4207 and Allen-1901 do not represent the same person because: Date of death and wives differ.

Joseph married twice, and the date of death on this profile (Allen-1901) is just plain wrong.

Joseph Allen, son of John Allen of Sudbury, married first, 5 May 1687, Abigail Myrick, daughter of John Myrick of Charlestown. They had daughter Abigail at Sudbury, 2 March 1690. They also had daughters Mercy and Ruth.

Joseph Allen married Martha Tingley 15 September 1703 at Rehoboth (Int. 19 June 1703).

Joseph and Martha had at Sudbury, Elisabeth, 2 October 1704. They also had daughter Rebecca. (See Walter Allen of Newbury, Mass., 1640)

The will of Joseph Allen of Rehoboth, dated 2 June 1709, leaves 'all that my parcel of land containing fourteen acres' in Sudbury to daughters Marcy, Ruth (d. 18 November 1716) and Elizabeth Allen, and all his moveable estate after debts, funeral expenses, etc. to wife Martha. Brother Benjamin Allen of Watertown nominated sole executor.

The probate document dated 22 October 1725 states that the executor, Benjamin Allen, was deceased (12 August 1721, Weston), 'as also Martha his wife'. Another document states explicitly that the wife named in the will (Martha) predeceased Joseph.

Administration was therefore given to Thomas Allen, 'at which time were present Elizabeth Allen (a daughter of said deced by his said wife Martha, and Daniel Dean admitted attourney for Mercy another daughter by a former Venter a person of weak understanding (which said 2 daughters are the only heirs at Law... ),' etc.

One of the inventories calls Joseph 'heretofore of Rehoboth and late of Sudbury.'
