DEATH OF AN OLD RESIDENT AT HEALESVILLE.
Another old colonist and old resident of the Healesville district has gone to that bourne from whence no traveller returns. Mr Robert Allan, after a short illness, died at Healesville on Tuesday morning at the age of 64 years. Mr Allan arrived in Victoria 40 years ago. About 35 years ago he was engaged in mining operations in the vicinity of Reefton. He was afterwards manager on what is now the Dairy Station, on the Yarra Yarra, near Healesville. Some 25 years ago he settled in Healesville, and went into business as a butcher, which he successfully carried on for several years, and then handed it over to his son Robert, who still conducts the business. During the past seven or eight years Mr Allan had charge of Mr Steel's property in and around Healesville, which included the care of a lot of young horses. Mr Allan was one of the oldest residents of Healesville, and was much respected. His remains were conveyed to the Healesville Cemetery last Monday afternoon followed by a very long procession of carriages, horsemen and pedestrians. [6]
